RVHEA Autumn Support Meetings Homeschooling is alive and well in the Ottawa Valley and we have a great program planned for the fall to enhance your activities. We have a new meeting location for our monthly meetings that is much more central for our members and is easy to access.
PARKDALE BAPTIST CHURCH is at 474 Parkdale Ave. Take the Parkdale exit off the Queensway and turn north onto Parkdale. Turn left at Tyndall (the church is on the corner of Parkdale and Tyndall). The parking lot is on the right, immediately behind the church. Our meetings will begin at 7:00pm and will finish by 8: 30 to allow for time for questions and visiting. Children who can sit quietly may attend but please be sensitive to others by sitting near the back so you can slip out if you have a crying baby. We love children, but these meetings are like a "professional development day" for teachers so it is important that all can hear. Monday September 29 at 7:00pm at Parkdale Baptist Church Alan, our political representative, is attending the HSLDA Leadership convention in Buffalo in mid September. He will share some of the highlights of that time with us. His wife Robin is a popular conference speaker and will bring words of encouragement to the the homeschooler who is trying to balance parenting, organizing her time and teaching several children. Robin will focus on the early years of homeschooling. Monday October 27 at 7:00pm at Parkdale baptist Church Lois, another of our experienced homeschoolers, will share how she homeschooled through highschool and will discuss her experience with university entrance. Monday November 24 at 7:00pm at Parkdale Baptist Church History and Science Fairs for Homeschoolers. Come and see a presentation of some of the projects submitted by our students in our history fair. We had several winners in our group that competed against students in the school board. Learn how you too could be involved in the spring in this exciting venture...more info to come later. This will be our last meeting for this year and will conclude with a sample of your Christmas baking! Everyone interested in homeschooling is welcome. Kids may attend with their parents as long as they bring quiet group games, or can join in the discussion. 2008 Schedule| January | Accessing Free Homeschooling Resources | | February | Open Topic | | March | No Meeting - please attend Used Book Sale March 29, 9-12, see home page | | April | No Meeting - please attend our conference on April 19, 2008
